Southern STyle Sausage Gravy

Prep time: 10 min Cooking time: 30 min Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Loose Pork Sausage

  • 2 TBSP Flour (Can use GF flour as a substitute!)

  • 2 TBSP Butter

  • 4 C Whole Milk

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions

  • Begin by browning the sausage on low to medium heat and then remove the sausage from the pan, ensuring to reserve the fat.

  • Add butter to the fat and allow it to melt.

  • Evenly add the flour to the pan and mix to combine with the fat and butter to create a thin roux.

  • SLOWLY add whole milk to the roux, whisking constantly.

  • Depending on how thick you like your gravy, reduce or add more milk. Allow gravy heat thoroughly.

  • Add sausage to the gravy and stir to combine.

  • Add salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

  • Feel free to add a dash of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika for some extra flavor!

  • Milk can be reduced and chicken broth can be added as a supplement to also add some extra flavor.
